Digging Dad’s Army is a community based, academic research project, supported by the Department of Archaeology and Anthropology at the University of Bristol and other partners. DDA is setting out to research the impact of 20th Century Conflict on the people of east and south east London from World War One to the first British Nuclear Test in 1952. It does this through historical and documentary research, field archaeology and building surveys and has, as a core principle, the view that its research must involve and be shared with, the local community of all ages and backgrounds.
