Discover the foreshore with us!
Thames Discovery Programme run a year-round programme of activities exploring the archaeology of the river on the foreshore, around London and online.
Public Guided Walks
Take part in one of our public guided walks and explore fascinating archaeology running through the heart of London, from prehistory to the present day and see the city from a very different perspective. Our walks are led by an archaeologist from Thames Discovery Programme and take place at sites across London. They help support our work to monitor and record the vulnerable archaeology of the Thames foreshore.
Our public guided walks are suitable for anyone aged 8 and over, under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. We also run regular family walks for all ages.
Group and Private Walks
Visiting London or want a unique experience in the city? We run private walks for groups, accompanied by one of our expert archaeologists. Our walks make a great highlight for your holiday, an unforgettable present or a great team outing.
So that you can get the best experience, we only run our walks on suitable spring tides, when the river level is at it’s lowest and the most foreshore is exposed. The time and the height of the tides varies throughout the month, and there are a limited number of days where we can organise walks. If you’re planning a visit to London, organise your foreshore walk as soon as you can to avoid being disappointed.

We plan our walks around the most suitable tides to give you the best foreshore experience. The more flexibility you have about dates, the better.
