The site at Chambers Wharf was once a foreshore shipyard, dating back to the 17th century. At very low tides, prehistoric deposits are exposed in some areas, but the majority of the remains seen on this site relate to later periods, when Bermondsey was in the heart of London’s maritime industrial zone.

Where to Meet

Access to the foreshore is via the modern stair from the river walk, close at the junction of Bermondsey Wall East and Bevington Street.
