A number of longer courses are taught at Birkbeck by Stuart Brookes from the TDP. These meet weekly between September 2009 and March 2010, and aim to introduce students to the subject of archaeology, its practice, as well as more in-depth studies of the major periods of the British past.

Wednesday 30th September 2009 6.30pm-8.30pm (22 meetings)

Discovery Archaeology which provides a full introduction to the range of methods and activities that archaeologists use to understand the human past. The cost of this course is £350 (£175) / £400 /(£200), and will be held at the UCL Institute of Archaeology.

Monday 28th September 2009 6.30pm-8.30pm (22 meetings)

Landscape Archaeology which is a multidisciplinary introduction to understanding and interpreting social and cultural spaces and places we refer to as ‘landscape’. The cost of this course is £350 (£175) / £400 /(£200), and will be held at the UCL Institute of Archaeology.

Tuesday 29th September 2009 6.30pm-8.30pm (22 meetings)

Castle, Croft and Church: The archaeology of Medieval Europe exploring the archaeology of the Medieval period from AD400-1550. This course addresses issues such as the rise of kings, towns and states, as well as the archaeology of churches, palaces and castles. The cost of this course is £350 (£175) / £400 /(£200) and will be held at the UCL Institute of Archaeology.
