Walks in Greater London

The Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) is an educational charity, and the learned society and professional body for geography and geographers.

Our self-guided walks are fun, informative and inspiring. Prepare to discover something new, to be surprised by what’s around you, and to find the unexpected. They are neither a route-march nor a catalogue of what you see. Instead the walks tell a story about the landscape, illustrated at points of interest along the route. Some walks give an alternative perspective on well-known places, others take you off the beaten track to explore something different.

See a different side of London, discover parts new to you, and explore unexpected perspectives of well-known landmarks. Retrace the Civil War in the heart of the capital or be amazed at urban cultivation in Hackney’s residential neighbourhoods. Discover London’s green lungs or find one of the city’s many hidden rivers. Explore landscapes of power and global finance. All the walks have their surprises!
