Free Events for Families and Young People

Thanks to funding from Tideway, TDP are able to offer a FREE programme of guided family walks and sessions for young archaeologists aged 8-18 – the Tadpoles!

These events take place on the Thames foreshore which can be both uneven and muddy. We recommend that children come wearing clothes that can get dirty and suitable footwear (boots or wellies).

Tadpoles walk – Shipyards & Slipways

28th July 2017
11.00am-12:30 pm
Join the Thames Discovery Programme’s Tadpoles as they explore the archaeology on the foreshore of the River Thames. Using our records of the Deptford foreshore, we will locate and map the various features that can be found there. Located next to the remains of one of Henry VIII’s shipyards this site shows how the archaeology on the foreshore can give us clues about the development of the area. This session will include a chance to tour the site and look at artefacts from our handling collection.
